How BST Operates
In the unfortunate event of an accident, the vehicle's MRS (MicroPower Module) control module takes charge. It sends a signal to the BST, instructing it to disconnect the B+ cable linked to the Starter & Alternator. When activated, the BST ensures that power continues to flow to the rear power distribution box, which is a fused and protected power distributor. This is a crucial measure to enable the functioning of other essential vehicle systems, such as hazard lights, power locks, power windows, and Engine Electronics.

One distinctive feature of the BMW BST is its ability to selectively disconnect specific sections of the battery cables. This feature ensures that even when the safety battery terminal is triggered, the rest of the vehicle's electrical system remains operational. As a result, vital functions like hazard warning flashers and the telephone system continue to work seamlessly.
