The Ultimate Guide to Coding for BMW EVO Head Unit Screen Upgrade
Upgrading the screen size of your BMW EVO head unit from a small display to a larger, more visually appealing one can significantly enhance your driving experience. However, after the physical retrofit, proper coding is required to ensure the new screen functions correctly. In this article, we will guide you through the process of using E-sys software to perform the coding for a BMW EVO head unit upgrade, specifically from a 6.5" screen to an 8.8" or 10.2" screen. Follow these step-by-step instructions to unlock the full potential of your BMW's upgraded head unit.

Procedure:

Step 1:
Connecting the ENET Cable and Launching E-SYS Software To begin, connect the ENET cable to the OBD port of your BMW. Next, launch the E-SYS software on your computer.

Step 2:
Locating the "DISPLAY_VARIANTE" Setting In the E-SYS software, use the search function to locate the "DISPLAY_VARIANTE" setting. This setting determines the display variant for your head unit.

Step 3:
Changing the Value of "schmales_display" to "breites_display" Within the "DISPLAY_VARIANTE" setting, find the value labeled "schmales_display" and modify it to "breites_display." This change enables the wider display option.

Step 4: Searching for the "DISPLAY_SIZE_RESOLUTION" Setting Using the search function again, locate the "DISPLAY_SIZE_RESOLUTION" setting within the E-SYS software. This setting controls the size of the display.

Step 5:
Adjusting the Value of "DISPLAY_SIZE_RESOLUTION" Within the "DISPLAY_SIZE_RESOLUTION" setting, modify the value to either 8.8 or 10.25, depending on the desired screen size. This change ensures that the head unit recognizes and accommodates the larger display.

Step 6:
Changing the "CID_display_res" Value Search for the "CID_display_res" setting and modify the value to 1280_480. This adjustment ensures the correct resolution for the upgraded head unit screen.

By following these simple steps, you can successfully code your BMW EVO head unit after upgrading from a smaller screen to a larger, more immersive display. The coding process using E-sys software allows your new head unit to function optimally, providing you with enhanced visual clarity and an improved user experience. Remember to exercise caution while performing these coding changes and enjoy your BMW's upgraded head unit screen to its fullest potential.
