Resetting BMW G-Series Service Intervals: A Comprehensive Guide
Are you a proud owner of a BMW G-Series vehicle and in need of resetting your service interval? BMW recommends using a diagnostic system, but did you know that you can perform this task yourself without one? In this guide, we will walk you through two methods for resetting your BMW G-Series service interval, as well as provide essential tips for success and avoiding pitfalls. Let's dive in!

Resetting Service Intervals: The Basics
Before we jump into the methods, let's go over some key requirements for a successful reset. To ensure that your reset goes smoothly, make sure to:
  1. Release the parking brake.
  2. Do not press the brake pedal.
  3. Deactivate the "Automatic Hold Function."

Now, let's explore the two methods for resetting your service interval:

Method #1: Using the Reset Button
  1. Start by establishing the "PWF state" by pressing the START-STOP button three times.
  2. Press and hold the daily distance reset button on your instrument cluster for approximately 10 seconds until the first service scope appears on the display.
  3. Briefly press the daily distance reset button again to navigate to the desired scope of service.
  4. If a CBS reset is possible, you'll see "Reset can be carried out" displayed in the instrument cluster (KOMBI).
  5. Acknowledge the text message "Perform reset?" by pressing the daily distance reset button for 3 seconds.
  6. The CBS reset is successful when it's acknowledged as "reset successful."

Method #2: No Reset Button on the Instrument Cluster
  1. Begin by establishing the "PWF state" by pressing the START-STOP button three times.
  2. Press and hold the on-board computer button on the direction high beam switch for about 10 seconds until the 1st scope of service appears in the display.
  3. Briefly press the on-board computer button on the direction high beam switch again to select the desired scope of service.
  4. If a CBS reset is possible, you'll see "Reset can be carried out" displayed in the instrument cluster (KOMBI).
  5. Acknowledge the text message "Perform reset?" by pressing the on-board computer button for 3 seconds.
  6. The CBS reset is successful when it's acknowledged as "reset successful."

By following these methods and ensuring the necessary conditions are met, you can reset your BMW G-Series service interval without the need for a diagnostic system. This can save you time and money.

Dear Sir/Madam,

I tried both methods, but unfortunately without success. I drive a G08 (iX3). Do you have an idea how it works with my car?

Best regards,

Max
