If you’ve just replaced your battery and your Hyundai starts but stalls shortly after, you’re not alone--this is a common issue, especially in models using the Delphi ECU 39100-82000 system. But don’t worry, you don’t need to guess.

Common Fault Codes After Battery Replacement
When your Hyundai stalls after a new battery is installed, it often triggers the following DTCs (Diagnostic Trouble Codes):
  • P0562 – System Voltage Too Low
  • P1226 – Injector Needle 1,3,5 High Side Circuit High
  • U1180 – CAN Bus Communication Error
These aren’t random. They’re connected—and all related to how the ECU and injectors respond to unstable voltage or bad wiring.

What These Codes Really Mean
✅ P0562 – System Voltage Too Low
The ECU is detecting a drop in system voltage—usually under 11V. This often happens:
  • If the battery wasn’t fully charged during installation.
  • If battery terminals or grounds weren’t tightened or cleaned properly.
  • If the alternator is weak or not charging at full capacity.
Low voltage = unstable ECU and injector operation.

✅ P1226 – Injector Needle 1,3,5 High Side Circuit High
This code means the ECU detects abnormal voltage or open circuit on the injectors for cylinders 1, 3, and 5. Why?
  • A common 12V power feed to these injectors is missing.
  • The injector relay or fuse may be faulty.
  • The high-side driver circuit in the ECU could be affected by electrical surges from the battery replacement.

✅ U1180 – CAN Bus Communication Error
After voltage disturbance, the ECU may lose communication with other control modules like the TCM, ABS, or BCM. This is often due to:
  • Temporary voltage brownouts during battery change.
  • A ground wire not reconnected properly.
  • A short in CAN lines due to pinched wires or a spike from a jump start.

Step-by-Step Fix: Get Your Hyundai Running Again
This is how professional auto repair techs handle it:
1. Battery & Charging Check
  • Use a multimeter:
    • Engine off: 12.6V or higher
    • Engine running: 13.8–14.4V
  • Check alternator function—replace if voltage doesn’t rise when engine is on.
2. Inspect Battery Terminals & Grounds
  • Clean both terminals with a wire brush.
  • Torque battery clamps properly—loose terminals cause voltage drops.
  • Check engine ground strap from block to chassis--corroded straps = ECU confusion.
3. Check Injector Fuses & Relay
  • Find the injector fuse (often labeled INJ or EFI)—test continuity with a multimeter.
  • Confirm injector relay clicks when ignition is ON.
  • Check continuity between fuse and injectors for open high-side circuits.
4. Inspect ECU Connectors & Wiring
  • Disconnect ECU plugs and inspect for:
    • Bent or oxidized pins
    • Signs of water ingress or short circuits
  • Reconnect and lock them securely.
5. Clear DTCs and Retest
  • After all checks, clear the codes using a professional scanner.
  • Start the engine and let it idle. If it stalls again, recheck high-side injector voltage or test the ECU on a bench.

Why Does This Happen After a Battery Change?
Most people overlook this: replacing a battery without a memory saver or without disconnecting the ECU properly can create sudden voltage spikes or drops. These voltage shifts confuse the Delphi ECU (39100-82000), causing erratic behavior and temporary loss of injector control or CAN communication.
