Deleting the FSC (Feature Set Code) for your BMW CIC (Car Information Computer) unit can be necessary in various situations, such as when updating or modifying the unit's software. With the help of an ENET cable, you can easily perform this task and ensure a smooth operation of your BMW's CIC unit. In this article, we will guide you through the step-by-step process of deleting the FSC, allowing you to make the necessary changes and updates as required. A Comprehensive Guide: How to Delete FSC for BMW CIC Unit by ENET Cable
Step 1: Connect the ENET Cable to Your Vehicle's OBD Port To initiate the process, connect the ENET cable to your BMW's OBD (On-Board Diagnostics) port. If you are using an ICOM (Integrated Communication Optical Module), make sure to configure the routing appropriately to establish a successful connection. This cable serves as the bridge between your PC and the CIC unit, enabling communication for the FSC deletion. Step 2: Run CMD as Administrator on Your PC On your PC, open the Command Prompt (CMD) as an administrator. This ensures that you have the necessary privileges to execute commands and perform administrative tasks. Step 3: Ping the CIC Unit IP Address In the Command Prompt window, input the following command: "ping 169.254.199.199" (CIC unit IP address). This command checks the connection between your PC and the CIC unit. If the connection is established successfully, the Command Prompt will display the output accordingly. However, if the connection fails, you may need to restart the CIC unit or disconnect the negative battery terminal and repeat the process. Step 4: Launch the Far Software and Access Netbox Once the connection is established, launch the Far Software on your PC. Press "Alt+F2" to access the Netbox feature, which allows you to interact with the CIC unit's file system. Step 5: Connect to the CIC Unit via FTP In the Netbox interface, click on the red arrow as indicated in the accompanying picture. Then, press "Shift+F4" to access the FTP (File Transfer Protocol) function. Enter the CIC IP address "169.254.199.199" in the designated field. Login Type: Normal User Name: files Password: remote Click "Connect" to establish an FTP connection with the CIC unit. Step 6: Delete FSC Files Once connected, navigate to the following folders within the CIC unit's file system: Access "mnt" -> "hbdebug" -> "data01" -> "02" -> "03" and delete the files contained in these folders. This is where the FSC files are stored. Access "mnt" -> "HBpersistence" -> "norm" -> "swt" and delete the file present in this folder. To delete the files, press "F4" to enter edit mode, use "Ctrl+A" to select all files, and press the "Delete" button on your keyboard. Afterward, press "F4" to exit and save the changes. Step 7: Restart the CIC Unit Now that the FSC files have been deleted, restart the CIC unit
