How to Update BMW Fxx/Gxx Remote Control Data Without Coding
If you're driving a BMW Fxx or Gxx series vehicle without a key slot, you might be wondering how to update service data on your remote control without needing specialized coding tools. Don’t worry! This guide walks you through the entire process, ensuring your key is up-to-date with minimal hassle.
This procedure applies to models such as the F20, F30, F10, F15, G11, G12, and many more. Whether you're maintaining your car yourself or just curious, this step-by-step guide will simplify everything for you.

Why Update the Remote Control Service Data?
Your BMW's remote control doesn’t just unlock doors—it stores vital information about the vehicle, including service data. Keeping this data up-to-date ensures your remote works seamlessly with your car, preventing any issues that could arise from outdated service records stored on the key.

Procedure for BMW Fxx/Gxx Vehicles Without Key Slot1. Get Ready Inside Your Vehicle
  • Sit inside the car and make sure all doors are securely closed.
  • If your vehicle has a start-stop button (which most Fxx/Gxx models do), press it twice. You'll know the system is on when the screen lights up.

2. Set the Date and Time Correctly
  • Once the screen is active, check the date and time settings.
  • If they’re incorrect, adjust them accordingly. This step ensures your vehicle’s internal systems sync properly during the process.

3. Initiate the Data Update Process
Now, here comes the main part of the procedure:
  • Press and hold the central locking button. This button is usually found on your vehicle's dashboard or center console.
  • While holding the central locking button, press the start-stop button and hold it for a few seconds.
  • Release the start-stop button but keep holding the central locking button for another 8-10 seconds.

4. Hold the Key to the Steering Column
  • After holding the central locking button for the specified time, you’ll need to physically place your key near the key symbol located on the steering column.
  • It’s crucial that you hold the key steady and keep it in the correct position, ensuring the system can recognize it.

5. Watch for the Check Control Message
  • After a few seconds, you should see a message on the dashboard: “Updating service data on remote control”. This indicates that the vehicle is syncing the service data from the car to the remote key.

6. Listen for the Beep
  • A beep will sound to confirm the data transfer is complete.
Once the update is done, your key will be updated with the latest service information, ensuring that it works seamlessly with your BMW.

Applicable BMW Models for This Procedure

This method works on the following BMW Fxx/Gxx models without key slots:
  • Fxx Models: F21, F20, F45, F23, F01, F22, F03, F25, F02, F46, F49, F48, F04, F07, F06, F30, F10, F32, F31, F12, F56, F34, F11, F33, F55, F13, F16, F15, F18
  • Gxx Models: G11, G12, G20, G30, G05, and many more.

Tips for a Smooth Update:
  1. Ensure all doors are fully closed before starting. An open door might disrupt the process.
  2. Hold the key steady near the steering column to avoid any interruptions in the data transfer.
  3. If you don’t hear the beep, try restarting the process. Sometimes the system might need a second attempt.

Updating your BMW Fxx or Gxx series remote control data without coding is straightforward when following the steps outlined above. Regularly updating your remote ensures smooth communication between the key and your car, preventing issues like failed remote responses or incorrect service data.
