CF2C21 – Crankshaft Signal: Invalid or Poor Quality
This code points to a communication fault in the engine speed signal (ID 0xA5) transmitted via the DME (Digital Motor Electronics) or DDE (Diesel variant). This isn’t just a simple “sensor error” — it’s a sign that something is interfering with the crankshaft signal’s integrity.

What’s Actually Happening?
The DME expects a precise and consistent signal from the crankshaft position sensor. If the signal is:
  • Corrupted
  • Intermittent
  • Or not received at all...
...then CF2C21 is triggered. This signal is crucial — the DME uses it to calculate engine timing, fueling, and even starter cut-off.

  • Failing crankshaft position sensor
  • Broken or corroded wiring/connectors

4209A4 – Transmission Oil Cooler Temperature: Hot Operation Warning
This code indicates a thermal stress condition in the transmission system — more specifically, the system has detected “Hot Operation 3”, which is the most severe warning stage before potential cooler or line damage.
⚠️ What Triggers It?When the transmission temperature exceeds safe operating limits — often during towing, spirited driving, or in hot climates — the TCU (Transmission Control Unit) logs this code to prevent mechanical damage.
