Fiat Magneti Marelli Installation

Fiat IAW Engine ECU Fitting Instructions

The main cause of this ECU failure is a faulty coil pack, hence a new coil pack must be fitted before the ECU is installed.

Once new coils pack has been fitted please proceed as follow:

  1. Disconnect the battery
  2. install the ECU
  3. Reconnect the battery
  4. Put ignition ON for 1 minute
  5. Put ignition OFF for 1 minute
  6. Start the vehicle

After this procedure leave the engine idling for at least 5 minutes, and if the engine management light is flashing then adaptation is required, which can be carried out as follow:

  1. Leave the engine running on idle until it reaches working temperature (over 80 °C), hence wait until the cooling fan come ON at least once.
  2. Rev up the engine at 5000RPM for 2 seconds
  3. Release accelerator and allow engine to idle for 2 seconds
  4. Rev up for the second time at 5000RPM for 2 seconds
  5. Release accelerator and allow engine to idle for 2 seconds
  6. Rev up for the third time at 5000RPM for 2 seconds
  7. Release accelerator and allow engine to idle
After the above procedure the engine management light should extinguish.
